On Wednesday, 22nd May, the Lord Lieutenant of Northamptonshire, Mr. James Saunders Watson, officially opened the Yardley Chase (Minden) Detachment.
This marks the first new detachment within A Company, Leicestershire, Northamptonshire, and Rutland Army Cadet Force (LNR ACF), in 18 years.
Situated at the Yardley Chase Cadet Training Centre, the Detachment welcomed its first recruits on 7th February 2024.
In just over three months, the unit has rapidly expanded to 20 cadets, with more recruits joining every week
SSI Simon Whitmore, the Detachment Commander, along with his dedicated team, has been tirelessly promoting the unit in the surrounding areas to ensure more young people can benefit from the cadet experience.
The Wednesday evening event provided an opportunity for the Lord Lieutenant, his wife, the Commandant of LNR ACF, and senior officers and NCOs from both County and Company HQ to visit the detachment. It was also an occasion for parents to witness the progress their children have made since joining the ACF.
During the ceremony, 12 cadets were awarded their Basic Army Cadet Syllabus (ACS) certificates, celebrating their achievements and dedication.
