VE Day 80th Anniversary image for 8 May 2025

Eighty years ago today the United Kingdom and its allies from around the globe celebrated VE Day – the end of the war in Europe.  As we come together to commemorate what came to be known as VE Day our thoughts turn to thanksgiving and remembrance of those millions that gave so much to achieve the freedom we all enjoy today.

Brackley VE Day Celebrations

8 May 2025 – A day of celebrations concluding with Beacon Lighting at 9.15pm

Brackley Town Park, High Street, Brackley – NN13 7DW

Cold Higham and Pattishall Commemoration of VE Day

9 May 2025 – A weekend of community events across the two parishes starting with exhibition of wartime Britain, nationally and locally at 6.00pm

Cold Higham Parish Hall, Banbury Lane, Cold Higham, NN12 8LR

  • Friday 9th May. A display of wartime Britain, and VE Day 1945.  The display starts the weekend, with cheese and wine provided for all.  It opens in Cold Higham Parish Hall at 6pm.
  • Saturday 10th The display will be open for most of the day, and there will be a ticketed ‘40s Bash’ with live music and appropriate fancy dress in Pattishall Parish Hall in the evening.
  • Sunday 11th May. The display is again open during the day, and there will be a Community Fete beside and in Pattishall Parish Hall in the afternoon.

Throughout the events we will be collecting funds for SSAFA, who are participating in the weekend.

Northampton Commemoration of VE Day – 8 May 2025

8.45am Attendees to assemble by the flagpole outside the Guildhall, St Giles Square, Northampton NN1 1DE, welcome speeches.

9.00am Raising of the VE Day Flag

Attendees are invited to move to the Memorial Garden at All Saints Church for a short service

Wootton VE Day 80th Anniversary Event

Wootton Community Centre, Curtlee Hill, Wootton, Northampton NN4 6ED

Officially starts at 8.00pm

Cadet force and Veterans march onto the recreation ground

School Children will recite poetry and sing songs

Community groups and organisations will mark the occasion with short speeches.

09.30pm – Beacon will be lit

Corby 80th VE Day Celebrations

8 May, Coronation Park, Cottingham Road, Corby 08.30 – 09.35pm

Refreshments, Beacon Lighting by the RBL, Parade and formation of Cadets

8 May 2025 – Morning Events at Parsons Green

8.00am VE Day Proclamation – Irthlingborough Town Crier – John Farrar

9.00am Raising of the VE Day Flag

Evening Events held in Marquee in Town Centre Car Park, off Church Street, Irthlingborough

7.30pm Raunds Temperance Band

8.15pm Singer – Tracey Barker

8.45pm Raunds Temperance Band

9.30pm  The lighting of the beacon

9.35pm The Last Post – Fred Harris from St Peter’s Church Tower

Thrapston 80th Anniversary of VE Day Beacon Lighting

8 May 2025 – Beacon will be lit in Peace Park to commemorate 80th anniversary of VE Day, Thrapston Town Band will be playing and Thrapston RBL Chair will read ‘The Tribute’ 9.00 – 9.45pm
