VISIT TO IHWO (INDIAN HINDU WELFARE ORGANISATION TO MARK 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE CHAI AND CHAT LADIES GROUP AND 25 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF IHWO BY HRH THE PRINCESS ROYAL ON 14 SEPTEMBER 2021
HRH The Princess Royal visited the Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation (IHWO) in Northampton on Tuesday 14th September 2021. IHWO are marking their 25th anniversary and the 5th anniversary of the IHWO Chai & Chat ladies group.
IHWO (Indian Hindu Welfare Organisation) is an established charity, founded in 1996 that delivers services to meet the needs of all Hindus at every age and stage and the wider communities.
Events and social activities are organised throughout the year, catering for a variety of interests and age groups. From a Women’s Chai and Chat group to annual celebrations of major Hindu festivals, to dance and language classes, there is plenty for the community to get involved with. IHWO volunteers play a huge role in making such activities possible and their commitment is a real asset to IHWO and a strength for the whole community.
During the pandemic, IHWO continued to engage members of the communities and moved many of their activities online, which was a lifeline for some members, keeping them going during these challenging times.
In June 2021, IHWO was awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Volunteering
