HRH The Duchess of Edinburgh visited Mountain Bike Park, Northampton.
The Bike Park is a thriving community space where people of all ages and abilities are able to come together to enjoy the joy of cycling.
During her visit, The Duchess learned about the park’s development, its community impact, and the role it plays in encouraging more people to get active through cycling.
The Bike Park, which officially opened in September 2022, was made possible through a unique partnership of funders and supporters. These included:
- British Cycling and Sport England, through the Places to Ride programme
- West Northamptonshire Council
- Northamptonshire Sport
- Ride Northampton, a local mountain biking volunteer group
- Committed volunteers and local residents who give their time and energy to bring the project to life
During her visit at Northampton Bike Park, The Duchess of Edinburgh met a variety of people connected to the project.
These included volunteers, local authority representatives, and board members from Northamptonshire Sport.
The visit included a mountain bike skills demonstration by local riders and concluded with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque.
